Conservas Catalina: La Mejor Anchoa de 2024
Conservas Catalina celebrates its 25th anniversary with a prestigious recognition: it has been named the best anchovy of 2024 in the Grand Tasting organised by the Brotherhood of the Anchovy, the main event of the Cantabria Anchovy and Preserved Foods Fair. This award adds to those received in 2014 and 2015, consolidating its leadership in the industry.
Directed by Adolfo Belaustegui and Silvia Ruiz, Conservas Catalina has once again demonstrated its commitment to quality and innovation. "We are delighted. This award is the result of years of dedication and continuous improvement. To celebrate 25 years and receive this recognition is the best gift we could have imagined. It is a tribute to the effort and care put into our star product, the anchovy," commented the directors.
At this year's fair, the company presented two innovations: butter coffee anchovy and classic gildas. Both novelties highlight Conservas Catalina's creativity and ability to reinvent itself and offer unique products in the market.
The success of Conservas Catalina is not limited to the Grand Tasting. Over the last ten years, it has been repeatedly awarded at the Great Taste Awards, where its quality has been recognised internationally. Other awards include the Superior Taste Awards, ITA Awards, Singapore Taste Awards, and Olymp Awards, highlighting its global excellence.
In addition to its Premium anchovies, Conservas Catalina offers the 'Reserva Catalina' anchovies, made from fresh fish of 26/27 grains. These anchovies are salted and matured for over two years at a constant temperature, which gives them a unique colour, aroma, and flavour. The presence of part of their silvery skin enhances their appearance and texture.
The Butter Anchovy is another standout product. These spring anchovies are processed by hand and preserved in Pasiega butter, made without colourings or preservatives. The result is an anchovy with an intense flavour and buttery texture.
The innovation of the butter coffee anchovy comes from the collaboration with Café Dromedario and La Pasiega de Peñapelada. Inspired by the coffee that the women who processed the anchovies used to drink during their break, this anchovy combines the sweetness of butter with 100% Arabica coffee from Colombia, creating a flavour reminiscent of toffee or caramel coffee with milk.
